Lex Orwell: Warrants? We don’t need no stinking warrants!

Prime minister Fredrik Reinfeldt pictured here as he explains Lex Orwell to the citizens of Sweden at a recent press conference.

Swedes are used to having their civil liberties impinged. But a new law recently passed by the Swedish parlament will augment big brother’s powers to a point that could rouse even a Swede’s apathy. Effective January 1st, it will be legal for the government to read all emails leaving or entering the country as well as to listen in on all phone calls and to monitor its citizen’s surfing habits. On the bright side maybe the Swedes will pipe down about what a butt-hole George Bush is. Not that he isn’t a butt-hole. He is. But I’m sick to death of hearing about it every time I go out for a beer.
