Preserving our proud American heritage abroad: Big Daddy Dubya’s Baghdad Jamboree

The government of Iraq announced plans today to renovate and reopen Abu Ghraib prison with part of it set aside as museum of crimes committed by soldiers under Sadam Hussein. They are still trying to decide whether to also include a section on abuse committed by soldiers under George Bush.

War is fun!

I think they should. Sharing the bill with Sadam Hussein as the star attraction in an Iraqi torture museum would be a fitting finale to George W’s stint as US commander in chief. Why deprive future generations the sterling example of his blundering rampage through the Middle East?

If its a hit in Baghdad, perhaps Disney could franchise the idea and turn it into a Country Bear Jamboree-style amusement called the Big Daddy Dubya Baghdad Jamboree. That way American school children could benefit from the experience as well.

I forget the name of the woman in that image, but the New Yorker wrote an amazing and detailed story on her life there. Strongly suggest you find it, great read!

Also, Nonrhotic, your little “snap shots” widget that pops up over every picture my mouse touches is really annoying. Stronly suggest taking it away so visitors can actually see the webpage instead of this annoying giant pop up.

    Best, chel.

    Hi Chelsea,
The woman’s name is Sabrina Harman. I think the story you are referring to is by Errol Morris the documentary film maker. He wrote a great piece in the New York Times on May 19, 2008. It was titled “Zoom” and a link to the story can be found at the bottom of the post. I agree it is a great story with amazing detail.

P.S: I have deactivated the “snapshots” widget so I hope it is gone now.

The Story about Sabrina Harman by Errol Morris was Titled “The Most Curious Thing” not Zoom. Zoom is the section of the times where the story appeared. – NR

Jayla, you are so right. I also think tis is a symptom of the foolish arrogance of the Bush/Chaney administration. Hopefully we have moved on as a nation.
