Puddles Pity Party: And now for something completely different

A seven foot clown named Puddles shows up in Scott Bradlee’s living room to sing a mesmerizing cover of Lorde’s Royals along with Scott’s band Postmodern Jukebox. The song has haunted me for days. Thought I’d share.

Four chords that changed the world (of music)

It started with this video I saw a few years ago by Rob Paravonian. It is his famous (now over 8 million views on YouTube) Pachelbel Rant. Rob lists 15 songs that share the same chord progression as Pachelbel’s Canon in D.

Three years later, Axis of Awesome picked up where Rob left off. A friend just sent me this video. Axis of Awesome’s 4-Chord Song is like the Pachelbel Rant on steroids: it lists 36 songs based on the same 4-chord progression. Both are worth a watch.

Of course if you want more check out Mal Webb’s Four Chords, 68 songs in 2 minutes. I’m not that musically inclined, but wouldn’t “Good” by Better Than Ezra, “Don’t Look Back in Anger” by Oasis and “One Last Breath” by Creed also qualify? If you have any more, please chime in.
